We are seeking a Scheduler who will be accountable for scheduling various types of patient appointments from simple office visits to very complex surgical and medical procedures. This may include coordinating schedules with multiple providers, specialized equipment, and other specialized resources. Complexity of this position is evidenced by the use of simple and complex medical terminology and enterprise scheduling protocols. The scheduling specialist; display professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with physicians, staff and the public; as the front-line customer service representative, upholds and exhibits the core values in all communication. It is essential that this information be documented timely and accurately

In this position you will:
Contact with patient by telephone or in person to interview them with courtesy and demonstrated service excellence to create appointments and schedule procedures
Responsible for the efficient coordination of all providers, specialized equipment and other specialized resources
Courteously and professionally respond to multiple phone calls and requests that often occur simultaneously
Take scheduling requests from physician offices
Collect and schedule accurate information regarding procedures scheduled, physician or patient special requirements, patient demographics to avoid duplicate errors, and/or refers call to appropriate person/department
Collaborate with other departments such as surgical services OR manager, front desk supervisors, service line supervisors, and other supervisory personnel regarding scheduling, resource or staffing conflicts
Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely
Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information
Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect
Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success
Maintain confidentiality of all patients’ demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA
Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as PH&S policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance
Required to think independently and to identify and make complex decisions in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Demonstrated outstanding customer service experience
One (1) year experience in a hospital or medical office setting
Clerical and computer experience
Ability to establish priorities, organize work, be detail oriented and follow through, particularly due to the impact to the patient if duties are not performed in a timely and accurate manner
Ability to identify and solve complex problems
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively with interruptions
Ability to be patient, caring and understanding in dealing with patients who may be upset, confused or difficult
Ability to learn quickly, as technology requirements change
Above average verbal and written communication skills: able to read, write legibly and speak fluently using the English language
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated service excellence with patients, families, sponsors, caregivers and team members
Proven effective and respectful face-to-face, telephone and interpersonal communication skills
Proven sound judgment and ability to work within delegated authorities
Demonstrated ability to appropriately resolve and escalate issues
Proven excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment in a positive and professional manner
A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
Demonstrated ability to perform in alignment with company mission and values
Preferred qualifications:
Some college level course work
Knowledge of CPT and ICD9 coding and medical terminology
