We are seeking a Clinical Educator (RN) who will serve as a consultant and facilitator in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of educational activities within Patient Care Services in Simulation to support the Mission Statement and Core Values of Little Company South Bay Service Area.
In this position you will:
Collaborate with clinical managers and medical staff in areas of specialization to assess staff learning needs
Plan and implement educational activities to enhance clinical development and proficiency of clinical staff
Develop and utilizes evaluative processes to determine effectiveness of educational activities
Evaluate study and research findings for application to simulation activities
In collaboration with clinical educators, clinical nurse specialists, and physicians develops simulation clinical case scenarios
In collaboration with New Grad Coordinator, develops, runs and debriefs Project Smartie scenarios
Act as a resource to faculty in running simulation scenarios and facilitate the education and learning process
Establish methods and standards for ongoing restocking of simulation lab equipment and supplies
Participate and lead tours of the simulation labs
Run and facilitate scenarios
Ensure proper set-up of props/moulage
Assist in the debriefing process of scenarios
Work closely with contracted partners to ensure contract and simulation needs are met
Encourage multidisciplinary utilization of simulation lab
Work closely with Simulation lab technician in all aspects of role
Participate in standing committees, task forces, meetings and activities to assist in staff development resulting in improved patient care outcomes
Serve as clinical expert and role model for clinical staff
Act as a change agent and demonstrates risk taking skills
Participate in the development and support of nursing orientation
Participate and teach faculty training (simulation and debriefing)
Participate in the organization’s commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of patient information through maintenance of related policies and procedures
Adhere to the documentation system within Education and Staff Development Department of continuing education activities according to BRN and department guidelines
Demonstrate working knowledge of Hospital Information System
Develop implementation plan for scenarios
Modify existing scenarios
Review scenarios with faculty and provide feedback
Support faculty in scenario implementation
Develop simulated medical record
Performance Improvement/Quality and Safety:
Actively participate in performance improvement activities and work to correct deficiencies identified
Actively support the facility with regards to continuous compliance with all regulatory and performance improvement standards including, but not limited to JCAHO, Department of Health Services, CMS Core Measures, IHI initiatives, etc.:
Maintain current knowledge regarding JCAHO standards for this position
Commit to and actively participates in ongoing compliance
Have knowledge of Tracer methodology
Provide the best care and service to every person, every time (PHS Quality Vision)
Provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient/family centered (PHS Quality definition)
Use LCM performance improvement process for all performance improvement activities
Support, monitor, and trend key indicators. Consistently seek methods and strategies to improve educational activities related to key indicators
Provide feedback to the faculty regarding simulation experience, outcomes and debriefings
Apply evidence based practice to the simulated clinical experience
Collect and analyze data to determine the impact of simulation on the learning process
Responsible for managing department resources prudently
Promote simulation utilization by community partners
Required qualifications for this position include:
Current California Registered Nurse license
1 year acute hospital experience in clinical specialty area
Experience in nurse-peer teaching and ability to communicate with all levels of staff
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Graduate preparation in adult education
