Providence Health & Services Regional Contracting Director in Torrance, California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Regional Contracting Director to one of our locations in either Burbank, CA, Irvine, CA or Torrance, CA.
We are seeking a Regional Contracting Director to be responsible to develop and lead the implementation and negotiation of the PHN and PSJHN contracting strategy, and assist in the development and implementation of the overall network strategy. He/she must be able to identify current and future market trends and incorporate them into the strategy. This individual will be responsible for contracting on behalf of relationships PHN may have with various networks and ensuring contract rates with Hospitals and Providers are in the best interest of PHN and their partners. He/she will be responsible for leading our Acute, physician group, and ancillary entity relations with respect to managed care, and in the development, implementation and monitoring of managed care systems and contracts.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Develops the longer term managed care strategy for the Region and leads the implementation of that plan.
Develops, implements, and maintains a managed care program in keeping with the System’s mission, strategy, goals and objectives in coordination with PH&S philosophy, operational and financial resources.
Works with key Region leadership to define Contracting Principles and contracting strategies that further the mission, vision and values of PH&S.
Ensures timely renewals of agreements
Act promptly on management questions and requests.
Assigns staff responsibilities and ensure timely performance evaluations.
Responsibly recommends and participates in the development of new services and programs.
Participate and demonstrate leadership in health care industry association(s) and organization(s).
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, business or related field.
10 years experience in healthcare contracting and/or network development.
5 years in leadership position-management experience.
5 years extensive experience leading high profile contract negotiations, business and strategic planning.
5 years A thorough understanding of the financial arrangements of the hospital, health plan, and medical group in a capitation and non-capitation relationship.
5 years Strong working knowledge of contract language and negotiation strategies.
Excellent presentation and writing skills.
Excellent listening and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated analytical skills.
Demonstrated planning and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively.
Understand how to work effectively within a complex, matrixed organization to approach the right people at the right time.
The position reports to the Sr. System Director, Regional Contracts and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior System and Regional leadership and staff. In addition, must establish and maintain positive working relationships with Health plans, Physician Groups, vendors, agents, and others.
The position will work with ACO leadership within the Region as well as PSMS Finance. The position will be a critical participant of the Region and System contracting leadership team.
Prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast paced, changing environment.
Assist PH&S management with Payer and Contracting issues on a continuing basis.
Provide direction, consultation, or guidance to affected parties on a timely basis.
Ability to close contract negotiations with successful results within tight timelines.
Maintaining self-knowledge and knowledge of staff in a complex and changing regulatory environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration
4 years experience in healthcare financial management leadership working within a large integrated heatlhcare system.
