Providence Health & Services Perioperative Speciality Coordinator - Bariatrics, ENT and Plastic Surgery in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Perioperative Specialty Coordinator for Bariatrics, ENT and Plastic Surgery to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in Torrance, CA.
In this position you will:
The Coordinator, Perioperative Specialty role is a Surgical Technician role who is a non-licensed health care employee performing the surgical scrub role and who works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
These duties may include reviewing preference lists and picking the supplies and instruments for a procedure; performing a surgical scrub and preparing the back table with the appropriate sterile instrumentation and supplies; providing support intra-operatively by anticipating the surgeon's needs and passing him/her the appropriate instrumentation and supplies when needed during the case; completing the cycle by taking instruments and equipment to the decontamination area at the end of the procedure and putting away left over supplies and equipment.
Provide patient care to the following age groups: premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults.
Perform all duties and meets all requirements of the Surgical Tech III Job Description.
In addition to the duties described above, the Coordinator is also responsible for taking lead for one specialty service line.This will include:
Assistsin the efficient daily operations of a defined surgical specialty(s). Meets on-time start and turnover time goals.
Initiates, supports and enforces work efforts that maximize quality, safety and service in the defined specialty service(s) in collaboration with Perioperative Specialty Charge Nurse(PSCN).
Maintains availability and working status of specialty instruments, supplies and equipment.
Assists in training specialty team members that are competent in the execution of specialty procedures.
Assists personnel in the performance of their daily clinical duties in the defined surgical specialty service(s).
Providesdirect patient care as a Surgical Technician 3 in the OR.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Successful completion and training as a surgical technician at an accredited school
Three ( 3 ) years experience as a Surgical Technician in an Operating Room
Maintains Certification as a CORT or CST or is a foreign RN or MD
Current American Heart Association BCLS certification
Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations ( add, subtract, multiply, divide )
Ability to perform all physical requirements pertaining to delegated tasks
Ability to organize and prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner
Fluent ability to understand and communicate using basic medical terminology
Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative ( service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families and co-workers
Has advanced skills in the assigned specialty areas
Ability to function in multiple specialty area groupings ( min. of 3 )
