Providence Health & Services Patient Financial Associate in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Full Time, Day Shift Patient Financial Associate to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, CA.
In this position you will:
Be accountable for the calculation of patient’s insurance financial liability
Be responsible for performing bedside visits to obtain financial information from patient, collect patient financial insurance liability including co-payment, deductible, co-insurance, private pay packaging, in addition to upfront collections.
Collect and input patient information into EPIC to ensure accurate billing.
Be responsible for multitasking to ensure the processes within the California Region are completed daily to ensure all accounts with patient financial liability are collected and completed.
Be responsible for making the telephonic process as pleasant as possible for all patients and their families.
Be responsible for communicating payment policies and providing patient education.
Have knowledge of all aspects of the department process from registration through to billing.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience
3 years overall experience in integrated healthcare system in any aspect of access services, financial counseling, upfront collections, insurance or related position
Data entry and computer experience
Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business outcomes
A track record showing good decision-making skills based upon a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment
A track record in organizing and planning
Working knowledge of Patient Financial Services processed with emphasis on calculating and collecting patient financial liability including, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and out of pocket maximum
Knowledge of upfront collection and cash practices
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be able to multitask, coordinating more than one event at a time
Demonstrated strong and persuasive verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment in a positive and professional manner
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, CMS and JC rules and regulations
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
EPIC Healthcare Systems experience
Certified Healthcare Access Associate ( CHAA )
Medical terminology, prior financial counseling, upfront collections and working with the public
