Providence Health & Services Operations Director Digestive Health Institute in Torrance, California

Description:

Providence is calling a Operations Director Digestive Health Institute (Full time/Day shift) to Providence Little Company Medical in Torrance, CA.

We are seeking a Operations Director Digestive Health Institute who will be accountable for executing the strategic plan of Digestive Health Institute for Providence St. Joseph Southern California. In addition, specific focus areas will include:

• Implementation of standardized evidence-based clinical practice guidelines

• Implementation of new care delivery models and new programs as identified and prioritized by Digestive Health Institute leadership

• Quality monitoring and improvement for the Digestive Health Institute Operating Commitments and Executive Metrics

• Growth in market share

• Progression of physician alignment

• Improvement in patient engagement and experience for Digestive Health institute

In this position you will:

  • Leadership

  • Implement approved Digestive Health regional strategies that ensure quality outcomes in alignment with Digestive Health Operating Commitments and Executive Metrics and supports inter-disciplinary care teams, physicians, and customers

  • Maintain a close, collaborative and consulting relationship with all disciplines who provide and/or supports patients receiving DIGESTIVE HEALTH care (i.e. nursing, pharmacy, pastoral care, emergency room providers, surgery, lab, rehabilitation, volunteer administrative services)

  • Develop measurements to track and report processes and outcomes. Ability to serve as an advocate for continuous quality improvement and to lead and direct teams to accelerate change toward ever-improving quality and operational performance

  • Develop physician alignment and recruitment strategies to more fully engage Digestive Health physicians for long-term success

  • Proactively address physician relationship issues to foster a collegial work environment by engaging in a collaborative partnership to impact quality of service

  • Establish, maintain and evaluate sustainable organizational infrastructure and processes for Digestive Health care

  • Cultivate relationships and partnerships with Digestive Health agencies/associations, outreach communities, facilities and providers

  • Facilitate the formation and ongoing functions of developing Digestive Health care through the continuum

  • Enhance professional growth and development through literature reviews, seminars, conferences, etc., as they pertain to system and physician integration, quality improvement, strategic planning, and clinical programs/services in a changing healthcare environment. Share learning with others

  • Develop/participate in public, professional and system educational programs to further knowledge, expertise and awareness regarding conditions that may lead to specialty interventions

  • Participate in PSJH system wide Digestive Health Focus Groups and work groups to standardize, reduce variation, effectively utilize resources, and share expertise to develop high quality, cost effective and comprehensive orthopedic services

  • Develop the Digestive Health Service Line

  • Implement strategies and tactics necessary to achieve the vision for PSJH Digestive Health Institute

  • Work collaboratively with the Digestive Health Leadership to create a systematic, coordinated approach to Digestive Health services across the region, including standardized evidence-based clinical practice guidelines integration and electronic medical record integration

  • Develop a system for access to Digestive Health care in conjunction with the local and regional leaders

  • Assist in the alignment of Digestive Health activities in the acute care facilities and medical foundations

  • Achievement of quality initiatives

  • Achieve growth targets in the market as defined in the regional Digestive Health plan

  • Capitalize on marketing opportunities. Evaluation and monitor of marketing effectiveness

  • Develop outreach and educational programs in conjunction with local high schools, community agencies, and other interested community stakeholders

  • Initiate program and service development, evaluation, and restructuring to meet changing market needs

  • Actively interact with urban hospitals and communities, physicians (internal and external) to facilitate increased access to Digestive Health services

  • Engage physicians in growth and development of efficient, effective and value added orthopedic services within a variety of care environments

  • Participate in development of strategic short and long range plans

  • Determine referral source targets, identify needs of the referral sources and their patients and facilitates referral source education and relationship building

  • Assist in development of Digestive Health provider recruitment plan and execution

  • Participate in developing service line budget and manages allocated resources efficiently for program, project and services assigned

  • Ensure resources are allocated to provide optimal Digestive Health outcomes and services

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies governing Digestive Health care, and rules, policy, and laws of accrediting agencies

  • Ensure the Digestive Health risk management activities are executed and aligned from the system wide efforts to acute care facility, medical offices and clinics

  • Implement operational improvements in the Digestive Health departments across the region

  • Achieve financial savings through evidence-based care for optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Science discipline

  • Master's Degree in Health Care or equivalent experience in service line administration

  • 5 years management related experience

  • Experience practicing in acute, outpatient or other medical care environment

  • Experience working in health care systems

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills (political Savvy) and flexibility in working with administrators, physicians and multidisciplinary teams

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including effective listening and presentation skills

  • Demonstrates self-motivation with demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritize work, manage time and respond effectively to rapidly changing environment

  • Ability to use cognitive thinking skills, leads inter-disciplinary groups, and prioritizes and organize work in an accurately and timely manner

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and develop teams, negotiate difficult conversations and manage projects/plans according to timelines and expected results

  • Successful history of working with physicians

  • Ability to develop, direct, coach, and motivate staff to provide quality service with effective/outstanding outcomes

  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, measure and achieve goals Ability to negotiate a favorable outcome under challenging conditions

  • Knowledge of health care trends, services and practice

  • Effective computer and analytical skills necessary to interpret quantitative and qualitative data relevant to service line
