We are seeking a MRI Technologist who will perform a variety of magnetic resonance procedures at a skilled technical level requiring the ability to apply MRI physics for diagnosis. Performs related work as required.
In this position you will:
Organize, plan and direct activities relating to patients and procedures for designated time and area. Maintain steady workflow ensuring a complete, accurate and timely work product
Demonstrate knowledge of principles of MRI physics and computer science related to MRI scanning
Demonstrate complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies
Demonstrate correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills
Select appropriate MRI scanning technique/equipment and determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions. Uses position markers properly
Review's images for positioning, technique, identification and validates quality
Assist in training and guidance of MRI students
Review patient questionnaire and request for physician notes and/or special instructions. Consults with Radiologist and patient if necessary to assure safety and appropriateness
Verify patient identification by verbal communication, ID band, etc.
Recognize emergency situations, initiates code and administers aid as needed
Prepare exam images for interpretation by a radiologist in a timely manner
Assist with ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment
Keep room/work area neat, orderly and prepared with supplies necessary to complete exams
Willingly perform other related duties outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., filing, transport, clerical)
Ensure that the Radiologist has all pertinent information regarding patient history
Comply with all MRI safety procedures including proper screening of patient, personnel and devices
Record pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files. Retrieve reports and is proficient in the use of copier, fax and printer
Demonstrate working knowledge of hospital information system, computer-based systems, and Meditech
Demonstrate awareness of legal issues and compliance in respect to patient care. Maintains complete confidentiality of all patient and hospital related information. Secures and handles patient records maintaining patient confidentiality with respect to patient and family rights
Lead by example in demonstrated work ethic
Attendance: report to work each regularly scheduled workday. Accurately records all work time including meal periods
Punctuality: Ready for work at precise starting time and continues working until scheduled departure time. Return on time from all meal periods
Appearance: Project a professional image, follows the hospital dress code policy and/or department requirements. Wear hospital name badge at all times on duty
General Work Habits: Readily accept work assignments in a positive manner. Perform work that is accurate, neat and consistent. Documentation is legible
Assist and provide orientation/training of new employees and students
Attend all assigned staff development activities including minimum attendance at all scheduled staff and hospital meetings
Participate in all in-services and cross training activities as necessary
Assume responsibility for own professional growth and practice. Assume responsibility for maintaining current CPR, PPD, TeamCare, age specific and required license
COMPETENCY CHARTING / PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:
Is knowledgeable of Performance/Process Improvement (P.I.) Methodology
Can verbalize knowledge of hospital-wide Performance/Process Improvement activity
Offer suggestions for departmental and/or hospital-wide Performance/Process Improvement
Knowledge of and participation in the Performance/Process Improvement is a condition of employment
Perform billing functions timely and accurately. Assures patient information and billing codes are marked correctly
Identify opportunities for cost savings. Reports to supervisor any suggestions to increase productivity or quality of work
Responsible for knowledge and compliance with budget and staffing standards
Required qualifications for this position include:
Venipuncture certificate and documented competency
Valid California State Certification License in unlimited diagnostic radiology services with MRI experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Radiological Technology or Approved A.M.A. program
MRI Certification or equivalent educ/experience
1 year MRI experience
