Providence Health & Services Lead Non-Invasive Cardiology Technician in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Lead Non-Invasive Cardiology Technician (Full time/Day shift) to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in Torrance, CA.
We are seeking a Lead Non-Invasive Cardiology Technician who will work under the direction of the manager and assist in coordinating the daily operations of the Cardiology Department in order to ensure efficient operations. This position provide technical direction to staff to ensure competent skill levels. This position assist management in the QI program development, implementation, and follow-up. This position assist management in the recruitment and orientation of new employees as well as maintaining employee files, work schedules, and competency testing. This positions is also a source of technical expertise in equipment needs and are responsible for all duties of a registered Echocardiographer as outlined in the Echocardiographer job description.
In this position you will:
DAILY OPERATIONS AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT: Assist management in the daily workflow for assigned area, including communications with other technologists and department staff when changes are made in patient or department schedule. Is a resource for compliance with daily productivity and annual budget. Assist management in the implementation of QI programs. Follows through with updates in technology and technique with regards to Echo/EKG/EEG technology
SCHEDULES: Responsible for completing and posting of personnel schedules according to hospital guidelines. Assign staff to meet budget and daily productivity goals. Assign and assist all employees with orientation and skill development. Works to minimize overtime by flexible scheduling of staff and self.
HUMAN RESOURCES: Assist management in screening, interviewing, and hiring applicants. Provide input in writing and revisions of job descriptions. Conduct regular staff huddles and meetings. Provide input to personnel evaluations, and offers assistance and counseling for job performance issues. Comply with Human Resource guidelines with regards to the following of all policies and procedures. Attend updates and disseminates information regarding benefits, policies and current activities. Is available as a resource for training with department staff as well as within outside departments
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE: Keep up with current trends in diagnostic echocardiography. Evaluate and recommend equipment selection when requested. Troubleshoot equipment to avoid down time, and coordinate maintenance with Biomed or vendors. Review and communicate latest safety and other pertinent regulations to team members, and encourages others to share their knowledge. Maintain current credentials with approved continuing education credits
TECHNICAL DUTIES: Perform all duties of the Echocardiographer as outlined in the Echocardiographer job description. Orient new employees to policy and procedures. Review and revise techniques and procedures as necessary or requested by Manager or Medical Director
COMMUNICATION: Communicate with members of the team concerning patient status, diagnosis, additional necessary exams, and related information. Regularly communicate departmental operations to the Manager and the Medical Director of the Echo Lab. Coordinate scheduling of tests within and outside the department to maximize workflow and patient experience. Is responsible to be an example of the Core Values to all customers, staff, patients, physicians, and families
INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Maintain current information in regards to CPT codes and departmental charging systems. Comply trending information for future departmental needs. Use statistical analysis programs for trending information and documenting opportunities for future QI programs. Share information with sister hospitals in complying with CPT coding, charges and billing for physicians
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served
Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of an AMA accredited Echocardiogram program (minimum of one year in length)
Registry credentials with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or Registry credentials with the Cardiovascular Credentialing, International
Active status in the ARDMS, SNIVT or CCI
Membership in a professional organization such as the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the Society of Vascular Technologists, or the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine or the American Society of Echocardiography is encouraged
2 years recent full time experience in Echocardiography
1 year experience in acute care hospital setting
Must be able to perform multiple tasks with frequent interruption
Must be able to work on-call
Must be familiar with personal computer software to access and retrieve records and data
Needs excellent interpersonal skills, experience with crucial conversations, knowledge of AIDET
Working knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, methods and techniques of the cardiology field
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in a related health care field or credentials with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing, International
Recent supervisor or management experience
