We are seeking EEG Technologist Non-Certified - performs standard and complex Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential recordings as directed, according to established standards and procedures, and performs non-invasive cardiovascular exams (EKGs, holters, treadmill hookup) for use in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease at Little Company of Mary Hospital (LCMH). This position requires some patient care duties and must be able to treat all age ranges from neonates to geriatrics.

In this position you will

  • Develop implement and complies with policies, practices and procedures consistent with Medical Staff Bylaws, JCAHO, Title 22, DHS and other regulatory requirements as they relate to Cardio/Neuro diagnostics.

  • Actively creates and environment of safe delivery of patient care functions with a consistent awareness of safety issues identified including immediately correcting/reporting any unsafe conditions found.

  • Complies with organization-wide and department specific policies and procedures, including working knowledge of policies and reference to policies as needed.

  • Actively creates an environment of safe delivery of patient care and functions with a constant awareness of safety issues. Immediately correcting and reporting any unsafe conditions found. Complies with incident reporting and Medical Safety Device Act.

  • Knowledgeable on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and fire/safety policies and procedures. Able to identify where information manuals are located.

  • Obtains knowledge of, and demonstrates compliance with infection control policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates ability to perform emergency care under BCLS and activate the code blue process.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently use equipment directly involved in patient care.

  • Completes all documents involved in patient care legibly and in a timely manner.

  • Obtains -necessary in-service prior to equipment used.

  • Assures that equipment is operating prior to use and uses all equipment according to hospital policy and procedure.

  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively resolve problems within the department. Immediately seeks guidance with an issue unable to be resolved.

  • Demonstrat awareness of legal issues and compliance with respect to patient care. Ensures and maintains complete confidentiality of all patient, staff and hospital-relate information.

  • Demonstrate confidentiality in using own password and all patient care modules.

  • Respect patient and family rights/privacy ensuring confidentiality at all times.

  • Perform standard and complex Electroencephalographic and evoked potential recordings, electrocardiograms, exercise electrocardiograms, signal-averaged. electrocardiographs and all other related work with results of neat and interpretable diagnostic reports as ordered by physicians order and following the appropriate department policies and procedures.

  • Perform Holter monitor application and scanning per departmental policy and procedure manual.

  • Assist physicians in performing treadmills and cardiolite treadmills, including proper preparation, hook-up and education of the patient and notification of other departments involved.

  • Prepare EKG's for review by physicians, perform editing of reviewed tracings, copy and distribute confirmed tracings appropriately.

  • Properly identify patients, labeling exam materials and completing logbooks, computer records, and other documentation appropriately and in a timely manner. Notifies physicians in a timely manner of completed tests requiring their review, including significant findings affecting patient care.

  • Prepare the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient's cooperation during the examinations.

  • Calibrate and adjusts the EEG apparatus in accordance with standard procedures Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study.

  • Prepare preliminary reports addressed to the patient's physician.

  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, professional affiliations, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise.

  • Perform general office duties such as copying, faxing, distributing reports, scheduling procedures, and filing. Answers telephone in a friendly, timely and efficient manner.

  • Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

  • Ensure delivery of quality services for inpatients/outpatients.

  • Maintain department records, reports, and files as required.

  • Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

  • Maintain equipment/ supplies and keeps equipment and department in a clean environment. Troubleshoots equipment when necessary and notifies proper authorities when unable to resolve.

  • Respond to pages, beeps and stat calls in a timely fashion following department protocol. Calls in appropriate personnel for requested calls.

  • Remain current with skills and education needed for new procedures and technologies as they are added to the departmental duties.

  • Ability to work independently and with others to get tests completed in a timely fashion.

  • Attend staff meetings and assigned in-services.

  • Maintain current BCLS credential as detailed in hospital policy. Is responsible for timely renewal of credential prior to expiration.

  • Ensure clinical data is correct and appropriate for specific procedures being requested. Ability to demonstrate correct data on all tests performed.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Requires satisfactory completion of BCLS.

  • Experience with computer entry and word processing.

  • Knowledge of EEG, evoked-potentials, and their computer assisted analysis.

  • Knowledge of non-invasive cardiovascular exams (EKGs, holters, treadmill hookup).

  • Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families and co-workers.

  • Must possess clinical expertise in Cardio/Neuro diagnostics care and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Basic medical terminology and abbreviations.

  • Ability to develop and organize filing systems. Must be able to accurately alphabetize and numerically file.

  • Ability to accurately complete assigned tasks, must be detail oriented, and able to organize work and prioritize assignments.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science related field

  • 6 months experience in a health care setting.
