Providence Health & Services Director of Clinical Education in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Director of Clinical Education in Staff Development Education at Providence Little Company Of Mary Torrance Hospital in Torrance, CA.
We are seeking a Director of Clinical Education in Staff Development Education who will assume responsibility for directing all educational activities for the San Pedro and Torrance Ministries across all clinical disciplines. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates programs for hospital staff and community members. Directs and coordinates departmental activities in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and within policies of PLCMT and PLCMSP.
In this position you will:
Assume responsibility for all caregiver clinical educational activities for the San Pedro and Torrance Ministries. This role plays a critical role in partnering with the regional education leadership team
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs for hospital staff and community members
Direct and coordinate departmental activities in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and within policies of PLCMT and PLCMSP
Oversee the inpatient overflow unit when the unit is opened
Coordinate the hospital wide competency validation process and documentation. Provides and approves learning materials to the Nursing Department related to re-validation due dates and competency based orientation. Comply with regulatory agency mandates that require employees to render care to patients and families appropriate to their age, cultural background, spiritual and psychosocial needs
Work collaboratively with the region and Education Directors at other ministries to ensure alignment with all regional programs and timelines
Provide oversight for competency identification, validation and data management for all non-nursing departments
Direct the work of the clinical education staff to ensure the support and progress of all clinical departments as well as tracking required education
Direct the oversight of clinical orientations including the TIPS program management
Mentor staff nurses to support their role as educators
Serve as the Chair of the Education Steering Committee to coordinate, track and support all clinical education activities
Serve as an expert and educational resource to the nursing community
Collaborate with department managers to educate staff on all mandatory education as well as education on new equipment and technology
Use LCM performance improvement process for all performance improvement related activities
Conduct departmental human resource management functions. These include participating in the hiring and firing process as well as conducting coaching and performance appraisals in a timely manner. Ensures every effort is made to motivate and inspire excellence in employee
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related graduate degree
Current California State Registered Nurse License.
ANCC Certification required within 1 year of start date
5 years Clinical nursing practice
3 years Nursing leadership role
3 years experience in working with teams
